The NovaSom® QSG® At-Home Diagnostic System

NovaSom® QSG® allows patients to undergo testing for Obstructive Sleep Apnea in the comfort and privacy of their own home. Cleared by the U.S. Food & Drug Administration and available by prescription through Sleep Solutions' diagnostic service, NovaSom® QSG®; is delivered directly to the patient for unattended, self-administered use.

The NovaSom® QSG® consists of a bedside console and three small, comfortable sensors, which are easily applied by the patient before going to sleep, following simple instructions and voice prompts. The system can be used for up to three nights to collect sleep data, including respiratory events (apneas and hypopneas), snoring intensity, blood oxygen saturation, pulse rate and respiratory effort.

Unlike a laboratory or portable Polysomnography (PSG) Sleep Study, the NovaSom® QSG® does not include additional tests that are not required for the definitive diagnosis of Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA). These channels include the Electroencephalogram (EEG), Electroocculogram (EOG), Electrocardiogram (ECG/EKG) and the Electromyogram (EMG). All these unnecessary tests add additional complexity and cost to the identification of OSA.

After three nights of use, the system is simply placed back in the original shipping box and returned to Sleep Solutions using the enclosed prepaid waybill. Sleep Solutions extracts and analyzes the data and sends a comprehensive report to the prescribing physician for diagnosis.

The NovaSom® QSG® has been clinically validated against the polysomnography in studies published in the journals Sleep Medicine and Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery.
